Volunteer Blog-3 by Kiran Rao

“At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, how many great things we have done.
We will be judged by "I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was naked and you clothed me. I was homeless, and you took me in.”
                                                   - Mother Teresa

The above words gives the definition of  ‘service’. The above deeds are what we are trying to do in RAMOSE , providing the basic necessities to the people in need.

Volunteering or being part of  RAMOSE has become a part of life.It brings people together who are service minded and gives them a chance to fulfill it . Volunteering for RAMOSE helps you overcome your stage fear, taking responsibilities, leadership qualities, working in a team and make new friends!!

My best moments in RAMOSE is the satisfaction you get after each SERVICE EVENT that you have helped the society in your own way . Describing those moments are just beyond words!

My dream for RAMOSE is fulfilling one of our main motto “EDUCATION FOR ALL” in which all the students are provided proper education so that they go on to become proud and responsible citizen of our country!

I ,being a part of RAMOSE would like to kindly request all the youths of this nation to serve the society in their own way and
“Make it a better place
For you and for me and the
Entire human race”

Volunteer Blog by Anirudh Venkatesh

“ The best way to find yourself is to
Lose yourself in the service of others ”
                                                      - Mahatma Gandhi
How true are the above words, when you are a part of an organization like RAMOSE, which believes in ‘Service before Self ’. I believe this organization has made a huge positive  difference to the society and also my life. This organization has taught me to help myself  by helping others.
RAMOSE  considers volunteers as its pillars. It has provided a platform for many volunteers like me to showcase the desire to help and serve people. My experience as a volunteer has been great since the start of the wonderful journey, 3 years back. Meeting new people with common  ideas, passion is a part of this wonderful experience, an experience of  life time!
I cannot express my best moments in RAMOSE , but I am sure best moments of my life comes from RAMOSE. A sense of contribution to the society gives me a satisfying feeling. At the same time I feel proud of myself for being a part of  this organization.
“ A dream doesn’t become reality through magic, it takes sweat, determination and hard work ”
‘Roar For More’ are the words which automatically comes to my mind when I think about RAMOSE. Started as a group of friends, today it is truly a wonderful  organization which has been a great inspiration to many people.
I, being a part of this organization , want to spread the desire of SERVICE  everywhere and make our society a better place for living.
I applaud the efforts of my fellow volunteers towards SERVICE  and  I  assure you my full support and love to this organization. I thank RAMOSE for all the wonderful  opportunities.

Thank You,

Anirudh Venkatesh

Volunteer Blog by Nagendra Chandrashekar

"Experience can’t be explained it can just be experienced'' by stating these lines I would like a share some of the best movements and experience  I had in ramose.
My journey started with ramose 2 years ago. The idea of serving people attracted me towards ramose .  Some of the ideas and innovative steps which attracted me is as follows
·        Books borrow andolan
·        Dressing the divine
·        Donating the study kits to rural school students
·        Blood donation camp and etc
These are some of the activities which lured me into this .

Lucky To Serve
How lucky I was to be part of this organization which is serving society. Volunteering is the best part,it gives you a wonderful feeling. The main advantage is that you will come to know about people, you will be socialized, you will make new friends. In short If I had to summarize it I got a new family, special thanks to ramose.Volunteering, managing and organizing  the events,SIGH!! loads and loads of experience.

BOOK DONATION
One instance I want to share with you all,we had been to Bangarpet (kolar dist) for distribution of CET books and PUC text-books  to govt college students. The happiness and the smile the students exhibited on their face is a million-dollar smile.

BLOOD DONATION
Money can buy anything but can money buy blood? No isn’t it ? blood donation is one of the major aspect where ramose connects the patient who requires the blood and the donor who is  willing to give the blood .

MY DREAM
My dream is that one day ramose will be an organization which will be established all over our state and all the students should be benefited with our small initiative . “Books  for all “ is one of the dreams of mine . and there are many more dreams of mine hope all these come true one day.
Society has given you so much , what have we done to it ? don’t you think that its our duty to do something for our society ,? I have done my part now its your turn to decide. Join hands with us, Be a change that society is looking for . be a change , be a part of ramose .

Last but not the least “alone I can smile, but together we can ROAR” lets try building a beautiful tomorrow . I roar , do you ????

Thank u ramose for this opportunity .

 Thank you,

RAMOSE 2 YEARS JOURNEY-THE STORY OF "SERVICE"

“Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.

A look back and everything feels like a story. Yes, a story. The one which we always wanted to hear and write, the one which we dreamt off,the one which we loved to be part of,the STORY OF SERVICE.
We cannot deny that this story involved lot of question marks in the beginning, yes it also involved some full stops at the center but today here we are seeing the exclamations and the happy good smilie :) Quite a punctual story, isn't. We after 730 days of hard work , sincerity, humility, devotion and love present you our story-the RAMOSE story-THE STORY OF SERVICE.

Things around me is changing so quickly just like I had my new hair saloon,a new laptop,a new subject to study..such a new world daily. I always search for the constant factors of my life and I find very few. Things I loved yesterday has been a history now and nobody speaks about it. But one constant thing in each of our lives is 'service'. Yes service is the companion we all have found which has lasted for two years now and many more to come. Service has been the hero of this story and why not we be the characters to serve.

RAMOSE,the self-reliant service group celebrates its 2nd year BIRTHDAY on 30-5-2014.
We have been one of the consistent student-service group of Bangalore. Having 25 core members and 50 volunteers and 200 registered members, we have managed to conduct more than 50 service activities till now.
Books Baro Andolan,Call the Corporator,Dress The Divine,Help To Cook,Ramose n Angels being the primary service activities,we have also conducted events like voter-ID drive,Clean Campus Awareness,Blood donation camps and health camps. We have more than 1250 facebook followers and 2500 online members.

The strength
The intention was not just to serve but was to inspire. We wanted every individual to do his bit to society.
So then came the concept of branching..and the came the name RAMOSE.
We have 4 branches(service clubs under RAMOSE)
1.YODHA
2.RAMOSE-JIT
3.RAMOSE-YDIT
4.RAMOSE-Chikamagalur
This strengthen our community. We have volunteers flowing from different colleges and from different courses.

OUR WAY
We are trying hard to give a new look to service activities. We are passionately spreading the message of service.Every service program is promoted well in online platforms so that people can easily access us.I feel no harm in using the word 'promoted'.We have blogs written explaining the impact and concept of every activity,we have our facebook page constantly being updated through inspirational quotes and our service ventures. We recently launched our website www.ramose.org making it more easier for students to access us. We also reach out to people and volunteers through text messages and whatsap. So we better call it this way,the new era of service. Our way,THE RAMOSE WA

APPRECIATIONS(The BATMAN of the town)
We never expected back from this story. We wanted to untie the knots of helplessness and wanted to prove them wrong who says this nation cannot be changed. Every volunteer is appreciated for his service and is considered as a LEADER.
We always wanted to be the The BATMAN of the town who serves the city in dark and do not work for appreciations.Yes this is a story of superhero. To add feathers to our cap,we have few trophies in cabin like the recently won "YUVA CHETHANA AWARD" which encourages us to do more service programs.
We will always be thankful to YOUTH FOR SEVA for recognizing our efforts and we promise to deliver.

THANKS GIVING
We thank our parents for their support and encouragement. They have helped us in our hard times, they have trusted us when we said"papa,I will score well, allow me to go out this sunday to serve",they have cherished every moment which we did, they have been the adviser and a mere a teacher.
We thank ALMIGHTY for being kind on us,without some divine support it was impossible to sustain for 2 years.
We thank all NGOs and other organizations for supporting us and being a part of our ventures.
We do not have any sponsors, yet we are happy enough to thank those donations from few of our relatives appreciating our work.
We also thank all the members and volunteers for their dedication and passion towards service. You have been the real heroes and am sure this energy will  last forever.
And lastly we thank service for giving us back so much happiness and satisfaction. The blossoming kids, the ever smiling students, the happy workers..You have made Ramose strong. You have accepted our service and we always will be in gratitude.Thank you and we promise to continue.

THE WARRIOR RISING
Things said and done, now time to do more.We have roared through the pains and gains,we have fought the odds within us and "compromises" are unheard off.We see ourselves as warriors of change and why not we bring out the warrior in each one of you.
This was our service story and where is yours?
Yes this day is an initiative day..Stay strong and start things.Until you start, things wont happen. This is not a story where the things are sorted rather you have to get it sorted. What you do may be small but what you gain is more.Let us not compromise, let us not accept the bad roads, the woman exploitation, the corruption and many more problems, let us always fight for more.We always want more, more and more,so we
ROAR FOR MORE

AYURVEDA HEALTH CAMP

RAMOSE FREE HEALTH CAMP
HEBBAGODI, BANGALORE

All set for another day of service, another Sunday wisely utilized. Ramose got the opportunity to take part in free ayurveda health camp. Ramose joined hands with Dr. Sandhya, willing to serve and help the needy by conducting a health camp. 300 patients were treated and free medicines were distributed to the residents of Hebbagodi.
Our main task was to help in handling the huge stock of medicines. We took part in arranging and listing all the medicines beforehand. All the medicines were packed in boxes in a proper order and count was taken of each of them. There were over 5000 of them. They had to be transported from the clinic at BTM Layout to Hebbagodi village. The venue for the event was Hebbagodi government school. Timings 10 am to 4 pm. Pamphlets were printed and had to be distributed throughout the village. All the preparations done, we were roaring to go.
February 9 2014 arrived. First task, transportation of medicine. 20 members team with two of them practicing medicine were all set to leave.  We left by 8 am in the morning. Collected the medicines at BTM Layout. We reached Hebbagodi government school by 9 30 am. A room was given to us. We cleaned it and decorated it. A table for the doctor and chairs for the patients were arranged. People started to line up. The two junior doctors were given the task of checking blood pressure and investigate the history of the ailments.
The second task: Distribution of medicine as per Doctor’s prescription. As the people were treated, we had to distribute the medicines according to the prescription. This was exciting as even we were new to these medicines. We ramosis (Latin for branched) ourselves for this task. Some handled medicines, some kept count of medicines and some made sure proper medicine was given. This process carried on the whole day. The pamphlets were distributed to all over the village in a span of two hours.
People started pouring in, it was nonstop work from 10 30 am to 2 45 pm. Medicines were given to the people at free of cost and we kept the good work going. Two students studying medicine also had a good time as they were exposed to various types of cases. A quick lunch break was announced and we were back within 10 minutes. The treatment resumed again at 3 and the last patient treated was at 5 25 pm. People from all age groups came in and all were pleased with the treatment they received. We too learnt a lot from the doctor in charge. The commitment to work, keeping up with the enthusiasm the whole day and extending the work time to ensure all were treated was truly inspiring. The day ended with a smile as over 300 villagers were ensured of good “HEALTH”.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP

RAMOSE in co ordination with RASHTROTHANA BLOOD BANK, LITTLE MORE LOVE and ZAV FOUNDATION volunteered in a blood donation camp on 15 February 2014.

VENUE: Rashtrothana Fitness Centre, Jayanagar 5th block
TIMINGS: 14:30 to 17: 30

Blood is red gold. At 18 you grow up. At 18 you drive. At 18 you give Blood to keep someone alive. Donation of blood is a noble service, helping save lives. We collected 191 units of blood, extending the time by 2 hours to make sure all the enthusiastic volunteers donated blood. The blood bank personnel arrived with all the necessary equipments to the venue. We helped in setting up the venue. Cots were laid, arrangements were made for the doctors and refreshments for the donors were taken care. A help desk and registration counter was setup, where all the donors had to fill their forms. Huge number donors were present, with some of them waiting over a couple of hours to exercise their yearning to donate blood

Each of the donors had to fill details regarding his/her health condition in the form. The doctors check for the hemoglobin level in the blood. If proper count is observed and all other health issues permit, one can donate blood. The donation of blood takes around 15 to 20 minutes, varying from person to person. Post donation, a person has to rest for 15 minutes and must not indulge in activities like driving or any other work involving physical strain for the next half an hour. Certificates were issued by the blood bank to all the donors along with a letter of appreciation.

We volunteers ensured there were no hiccups in the event. From the time of registration to the point of exit of donor everything was taken care with sufficient number of volunteers. We too donated blood. It was valentine’s weekend; we gave a gift of love, our own blood. With a total count of 191 units of blood, we left home with a smile and a bit of contentment

RAMOSE AND ANGELS-3(Hebbagodi)

SEASON 2014 “PHENOMENON 1” 30/1/2014
“The soul is healed by being with children.”

Fyodor Dostoyevsky

A simple and sweet saying describing our mindset. I don’t want to term the day as an event or activity because of the divinity felt.
LOCATION: Hebbagodi Government school.
Hebbagodi village is located at a distance of 25 kms from Bangalore towards Hosur. We had 24 enthusiastic volunteers.  We planned to conduct quiz, essay writing, drawing competitions for students. Necessary arrangements were made for the competition. The day was divided into 3 slots. Pre lunch session, post lunch session and prize distribution.
Slot 1: Quiz competition for class 5, 6, 7. Drawing for class 4 and 5.
Slot 2: Quiz competition for class 8,9,10. Essay writing for class 8, 9 and 10.

The two competitions took place simultaneously. The students took part in great numbers. Quiz was based on general topics. There was no topic for drawing. Students had their freedom to draw anything. Essay writing was on interesting topics. Many entries were received from both drawing and essay writing. The audience too interacted very well.
This is our first visit to the school. The purpose was to interact with them and make them feel comfortable. We received astonishing response. We were successful in entering into their imagination and were able to leave a mark when we left. Teachers were very kind to both us and the children. Their influence could be seen in their discipline during events and thoughts which came out during drawing and essay competitions. Overall, a nice sense of mutual understanding and co ordination developed
Education is the most important tool we can use to change the world
            -Nelson Mandela
We made sure we propagated education and its importance too. More importantly, the importance of a teacher was conveyed to them.

Slot 3: Prize Distribution.
The certificates and prizes were awarded to the victorious by the head master. We thanked the teachers for their support and co ordination. The teachers too shared their thoughts about us and encouraged us. They gave some insights to the students too.

Acknowledgements:  Sincere thanks to Shruti Sagar – member RAMOSE and Prof. Rajendra Prasad – (teacher at Hebbagodi GHS) who played a major role for the “phenomenon” to take place and healing our souls.
